Breakthrough Training

March 23-26, 2006 Holiday Inn, Nashua NH

Have you ever sensed that more is possible in your relationships beyond the ordinary life you lead day-to-day?

Have you ever touched in your soul an expectation for your life, your family, your community, your world that sparks a hope for the future, even though you may have struggled to describe it?

Has hope ever transformed a moment of your life through the touch of Love?

Every person has had these experiences for at least a moment in his life; most often the memory of such a time is drowned in a flood of the mundane necessities of living. These flashes of hope and love are the times when we are conscious of God's presence. When this conscious experience of God is swallowed by drudgery, it is not God who has changed; rather it is we who have moved from His touch.

If you can remember the touch of His presence, you have experienced a taste of what is possible in the vision of the future He has built into your soul.

Breakthrough is founded on the premise that God has created us to live meaningful and rewarding lives, regardless of circumstances, happenstance, and the wayward times in which we all have lived. God desires us to move into our future believing, based on these past touches of His presence and glory, that if we will surrender ourselves to the pursuit and discovery of such a divine possibility, God will meet us.

Today's culture tells us that we have the power to choose our life's direction. This is indeed true. The question is how will we use the freedom God has given us? What course will we set given the limitless avenues open to us? Will we choose the culture's way of living for ourselves, or will we choose His way of living for others? He clearly calls us to obey and choose His way. Not out of His need for us, but because it is ultimately the best, most rewarding choice we could possibly make.

We are still left with the question, "what is His way?" The signposts along the way are often ambiguous and open to divergent interpretation. However, God provides us with at least three different compasses to assist us in arriving at our calling: our unique gifting, our unique past, and our unique relationships. He has specially gifted each of us, and these gifts are an integral part of our calling to love God and others.

And while our past by no means determines our future, it is a potent source for discovering it. Our relationships with others form the crucible in which God refines our character; further, others in our lives are, by God's design, to be the recipient of the fruit of our gifts.

Breakthrough is an opportunity to discover the belief Systems that prevent us from achieving the fullness of God's purposes for us in such a way that we can realign these beliefs with His purposes and calling in our lives and become fruitful. You will experience a transformation in your ability to love others as Christ loves you, liberating your conscience to fulfill God's unique purpose for you with freedom, passion, and power.

No longer will life be limited to more, better, and different variations of the past. In Breakthrough, you will order the chaos of life as you release the beauty in yourself and those you touch. You will experience the eternal possibilities added to the world through your unique purposes and vocations. The joy of living your vision will call you through the pains and challenges of change.

Breakthrough is grounded in the assumptions that our satisfaction and fulfillment, our behavior in the moment, our means to steward who we are and what we do, depends wholly on our vision of a future worth having with others - that our relationships with others are the ultimate end for our vision and the means by which our character is refined and molded. Whenever we live in the present moment directed toward a compelling vision of the future, we experience our past differently.

When we consider our past in relation to a compelling future, we realize that God has used every disappointment, challenge, mistake, and injustice for the development of our character and calling. When we live this way, we redeem our past and know that we are following His way. We can join the Apostle Paul in saying, "And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose" (Romans 8:28, NAS).

Along the path of His way, we will discover daily the abundant possibilities of the vision He has put in us.

The Biblical principle that our vision of a compelling future redeems our past brings a renewal to participants of faith, hope, and love. Whenever we experience the meaningful connection of our past to our vision of the future, our faith multiplies exponentially because we can see the hand of God at work throughout the story of our lives.

We experience the confidence and significance of knowing that we are being cared for by a loving and all-powerful God.

No longer will we relate as victims to the tragedies that scar our lives: but we will be equipped to stand and order the chaos that threatens the beauty of our relationship with God and our relationships with others. Because we can identify the loving power of our God redeeming our past, the despair of defeat will transform into the grateful anticipation for what we will discover He is doing next in our lives. Our longings for what we have lost or never had will stoke the fires of our future expectations.

This kind of vision has a profound impact on the quality of life in the present. We experience a freedom from what has bound us in and from the past in such a way that we can live powerfully now. It does not merely transform our action or provide new choices, but there is a quantum leap in the quality of our relationships with people we have known our entire life - a renewed commitment and dedication to what is possible with them. We experience the fullness of salvation promised by Paul,

"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new" (2 Corinthians 5:17).

Training Description
Breakthrough is a Christian, action-oriented education program that is designed to assist you in dealing with important life issues in a frank and personal way. The learning process of the training includes a variety of formats.

Breakthrough includes:

Ground Rules: On the first day, the trainer will request that you agree to a series of ground rules. The purpose of these rules is to facilitate group cooperation within a consistent framework.

Lectures: The trainer will speak about various subjects relevant to the participants' life experiences. The Trainer or participants may offer points of view about such subjects you agree or disagree is unimportant; the value for you clarifying your principles and observing your manner of participation.

Small Group Exercises: You will periodically meet with a group of 6-12 people for informal discussions and/or structured communication.

Sharing: Throughout the training you will have the opportunity to learn by sharing, talking about what you are learning, and hearing about your own and others' experiences. Sharing may occur one-on-one, in small groups, or in front of the entire group. Sharing is completely voluntary.

One-on-one Interaction: You may be asked to answer a series of questions, tell a story, complete sentences, or assume a particular body stance. You will have the opportunity to look directly at specific, personal issues and to support your partner in doing so. Some participants find this an intense or emotional experience.

Listening: Occasionally the Trainer will request that you close your eyes in order to enhance your ability to listen carefully, free of distractions.

Homework: Each night and on longer meal breaks you will be asked to write out answers to a variety of thought-provoking questions. These assignments generally take a minimum of 30 minutes to complete.

Interaction with Trainer: At times you may have direct interaction with the Trainer. He or she will coach you from the position that taking personal responsibility is more effective than being a victim.

Worship: At certain points during the training you will be involved in individual or group worship. These sessions are designed to allow you to discover and explore powerful expressions of worship that you may not be fully expressing in your daily life.

The training involves all parts of your life: intellectual, emotional, physical, and spiritual. At times, participants experience thoughts, feelings, or sensations that they may not have explored thoroughly before. This is a fascinating journey for most participants, but it may include a high degree of personal challenge. In preparing yourself for the training, consider the consequences of confronting your life head-on, and make your decision to participate accordingly.
